Recently, I purchased the video game Catherine. It’s an extremely unique game. You play the role of Vincent–an unambitious bachelor who has to choose between marrying his long-time girlfriend (Katherine) or dating a young and free-spirited girl (Catherine). In the process of figuring out what he wants in life, he gets himself into a lot of trouble, and it’s your job to get him out of it.

So, I knew most of that when I bought the game. What I didn’t know is that the action part of this particular game is entirely puzzles–super addictive, incredibly frustrating, and sometimes blood-boiling puzzles. I won’t go into detail explaining these puzzles. If I tried, I don’t know how much sense it would make. Besides, I don’t want to ruin anything for you if you plan on playing… which, in spite of how violently angry Catherine may have occasionally made me, I would recommend.

The bottom line is, Catherine is a very odd and unique game. It’s frustrating at times and a little repetitive, but it’s also super addictive. It is so satisfying to finally get through a level that’s been giving you trouble. If you are looking for something new to play, like puzzles, and have a lot of patience, do give Catherine a try.

Speaking of video games, I am always on the hunt for something new (or something old I’ve never played). If you’ve got any really great and/or unique games to recommend, comment on this comic and let me know!
